Fully Customized Curriculum:

Curriculum is fully customized to meet the individual needs, interests, and learning style of the student. The A Self-PortraitTM Profile (created by two of our Global Village teachers, Mariaemma Pelullo-Willis and Victoria Hodson, and featured in their book, Discover Your Child's Learning Style) assesses several aspects of learning style, quickly and simply, in language that is easily understood by everyone.

After taking the profile, one of our certified Learning Styles coaches will work with you and your family to personally customize a complete curriculum for your child.  A list of recommended materials, (books, CD-ROMs, videos, etc.), and information on how to order them will be provided to you.  The regular cost for a consultation is $395. Enrolled families pay $295. These prices include the learning styles profile. There are no curriculum fees as you will be purchasing the materials on your own.

Please see this page for more information about the A Self-PortraitTMProfile and the Customized Curriculum Consultations.

Design Your Own Curriculum:

You and your family will research and choose materials that you would like to use throughout the school year.  You submit your list to Global Village. We will review it for grade level, content, etc. Once approved, you will purchase the materials and begin.  There is a $125 consultation fee for the review of the proposed curriculum.  There is no curriculum fee as you will be purchasing materials on your own.

TEACHER SERVICES

Global Village School teachers provide support, review, and encouragement to all of our students.  Our Elementary Program offers three options: Regular (full service), Quarterly Review (Unschooling), and Tutorial (additional support)

No matter what you choose, please remember that distance-learning requires parents to be very involved with their child's learning.

Regular Tuition

Highly Recommended for most families

Teachers review and provide feedback on all work. We do not issue grades for K-8 students unless families request it. Online lessons are submitted weekly; text lessons are submitted every two weeks.

Teachers are available for an hour each month by phone or in person. The nature of the consultations varies depending on the needs of the family.  Some students and/or parents only need a sounding board while others need more detail oriented assistance.

Teachers are available for e-mail and phone questions upon request.

Teachers provide written evaluations at the end of each semester. Dates will vary depending upon individual student schedules.

Parents review all work for completeness and general accuracy before sending it in.

Parents score math (student reviews and corrects mistakes before sending it in).

Parents thoroughly review all work for accuracy and completeness before sending it in.

Teachers review and grade work on a quarterly basis (amount of work reviewed to be determined by teacher; generally at least half of all assignments including all major assignments papers, portfolio additions, etc.).

Teachers are available for quarterly consultations by phone or in person.

Teachers are available for e-mail and phone questions upon request.

Teachers provide written evaluations at the end of each semester. Dates will vary depending upon individual student schedules.

For families choosing Quarterly Review tuition, we make the following assumptions:

  • Parents and students are very comfortable with the homeschooling process.
  • The student already has or can easily make a study schedule that works for them.
  • The students are engaged in their studies and need very little coaching from a Global Village teacher.
  • Parents are closely monitoring and supporting the students.
  • Parents are very comfortable with the subject matter (Note: it is possible to have regular tuition for some courses, such as higher level science and math, and to have quarterly review for others).

ENROLLMENT & FEES

How to Enroll:

When you enroll in Global Village School you become part of a legal private school. We will maintain all student records, along with providing written semester evaluations, a yearly transcript, and a diploma upon high school graduation.

Each student is assigned Global Village teachers for all their academic courses. Our teachers are knowledgeable, compassionate, supportive, and committed to the vision of the school. You can contact our teachers by phone, fax, and e-mail, or schedule in-person appointments if you live in the local area. Along with regularly scheduled appointments, teachers are happy to answer questions when they arise.

Each family will work with an enrollment advisor to design the most appropriate program. The advisor will be available throughout the year to answer questions and provide support.

Call our office to make a phone or in-person appointment with one of our educational advisors, who will enroll your family, help you select a curriculum, answer your questions, and provide you with additional information.

Unschooling:

Some students are already very independent learners; they know what they want to learn and how to go about it. Some families have been traditional homeschoolers for years and already know how to provide an excellent learning environment for their children. At Global Village we acknowledge and support the value of this type of education. We will work with you in designing and documenting a non-traditional "unschooling" program that meets legal requirements as well as the unique needs and interests of your family. You can purchase any Global Village courses that interest you, as well as designing your own. When you contact us, let your enrollment advisor know that you are interested in our unschooling option.

Fees:

All fees are based on U.S. dollars. Rather than setting a standard fee for everyone, we have set up our system so that families only pay for what they need. Fees vary based on the student's grade level and on type of curriculum and teacher service chosen. All enrolled students pay fees for tuition and curriculum:

1. Tuition - includes official enrollment in a legal private school, the maintenance of transcripts and records, consultations with our enrollment advisors, our learning styles profile, general administration, teacher support, etc. Tuition varies depending on grade level and type of teacher service chosen - see above.

2. Curriculum - Prices vary by grade level - see prices above. These fees cover books and detailed study guides. Taxes and shipping are additional.

Purchasing Curriculum only:
Families may purchase books or courses without enrolling in Global Village School. However, this option does not provide you with a Global Village teacher or with other support services, nor does it imply that you are enrolled in our school.

Refund Policy

Although we make every effort to ensure that your experience with Global Village School is successful, we realize that sometimes you will need to make a return or withdraw from a course or from the school. We will refund enrollment, curriculum, and tuition fees with the following limitations:

Canceling Enrollment

To cancel your child’s enrollment in Global Village School or in a Global Village course, you must send a letter, fax, or email to the Global Village office informing us of your child's withdrawal. Withdrawal is officially recognized only upon receipt of written notification and must be confirmed by a Global Village office staff member. The date the written notification is received will serve as the official date of termination. This applies to withdrawal from the school or from a course. It takes 30 days after the school receives notification of a withdrawal before the process is completed.

Tuition

A good deal of work goes into welcoming new students and their families to Global Village School. $250 of the tuition cost is a registration fee that covers the administrative costs of processing new enrollments. This registration fee is nonrefundable. Tuition usually covers a five or ten month period. If tuition has been paid in full, then any un-used tuition may be refundable for up to 60 days from the date of enrollment in the courses. Used tuition is defined based on the time that has elapsed since enrollment - it is not based on how much work the student has done or how much contact they have had with their teacher. During the first 30 days, 15% of the tuition is non-refundable. From 31 - 60 days, 20% of the tuition is nonrefundable. After 60 days no tuition refund is available. The date payment is received will serve as the official date of enrollment. If you are on a payment plan Global Village School will calculate your refund based upon the amount of tuition used vs. the total amount of your payments. Any administrative fees associated with monthly payments made before the withdrawal date are nonrefundable. Bank fees charged to our account are nonrefundable.

Curriculum

If you are not fully satisfied with a book or study guide, you can return it within thirty (30) days (postmarked within 30 days from the date the curriculum was sent to you) for a refund, less a 20% restocking charge per course. Contact the Global Village office for authorization and instructions for book returns. The total amount of the refund may vary depending upon the condition of the returned materials. Shipping costs and sales tax are nonrefundable. Software that has been opened is nonrefundable. All Elective Portfolios are nonrefundable.

Miscellaneous Fees

Learning Styles Profiles, Learning Styles Consultation fees, Senior Fees, fees for review of prior coursework, and transcript evaluation fees (once you have received your transcript evaluation you have used that part of the tuition) are nonrefundable. Bank fees charged to our account are nonrefundable.
